Ship Fasan drops the moorings and heads for the United States of America!

After leaving the Naval Base of La Spezia on 20 April, Nave Virginio Fasan (F591) FREMM type ASW frigate, passed through the Strait of Gibraltar 23 April, to begin the deployment in the Atlantic Ocean and subsequently reach the eastern coasts of the American continent (Canada and the United States).

The Strait of Gibraltar, in addition to representing an extremely important geographical, strategic and cultural crossroads, recalls the heroic deeds performed by the men of the Regia Marina during the Second World War.

Ship Fasan, once arrived in the United States, will take part in the training activities of the composite training unit exercise (C2X) as an integral part of the carrier strike group 2 of the US Navy, based on the aircraft carrier Dwight D. Eisenhower.

During this period the integration and interoperability capabilities between the Italian unit and those of the US aircraft carrier group will be consolidated.

Ship Fasan, thanks to the marked ASW capabilities of the sensory suite on board, will contribute to ensuring particularly advanced surveillance of the underwater dimension.

This is part of a major collaborative program aimed at strengthening ties and the ability to act in an integrated manner between the Navy and the US Navy.
