The recent stop of Nave Bettica Sekondi was not only a time of rest for the crew and logistical replenishment for the unit: thanks to the generous collaboration with the Ghana Italian Women Association (GIWA), the crew had the opportunity to leave a tangible sign of solidarity and support to the local community, especially to the young patients of the Axim Government Hospital.

The initiative, born from the common desire to join forces for a noble purpose, saw sailors and medical personnel on board work side by side with GIWA members to bring concrete help to a vital health facility for the region. The first phase of the intervention focused on the delivery of a considerable amount of clothes for hospitalized children, a simple gesture but of great comfort for families facing difficult times.

The crew's commitment did not stop there: the ship's medical staff, in fact, offered valuable professional support to the local staff, sharing skills and providing consultations where necessary.

And a fundamental contribution also came from our technical specialists, who dedicated themselves with commitment to the renovation of the hospital's electrical, hydraulic and ventilation systems. Targeted interventions that will guarantee greater safety and a healthier environment for the young patients and for those who take care of them.

To complete the renovation work, a group of sailors took up paintbrushes and rollers to bring color and liveliness back to the hospital premises. The walls now shine with new colors, creating a more welcoming and serene atmosphere, important elements for the well-being of children during their hospital stay.

This experience has enriched the human and professional baggage of the crew, who once again received confirmation that they are not only soldiers at the service of the Nation, but also citizens of the world ready to help those most in need.
