NATO Air Policing, Poland: 1st Scramble for TFA White Eagle Eurofighters

(To air Force)
22/08/22

In recent days, following the potential entry into the airspace of the Alliance of an unrecognized trace coming from Belarus, the CAOC of Uedem (Ger) immediately alerted a couple of Euro Fighter Italians who were already in flight, ordering them to go to the area of operations, remaining within the Polish borders.

This readiness allowed the NATO chain of command and control to verify the presence of the possible threat and to demonstrate in the same way, in a very short time, exceptional reaction capabilities, using the resources made available by Italy with the TFA-P White Eagle deployed at Malbork airbase.

In a very delicate and complex context such as the current one on the north-eastern flank of NATO, the operational activity that the pilots of the Italian Air Force carry out, day and night, without interruption, in support of the Polish Air Force is of fundamental importance. .

The mission of enhanced Air Policing of NATO, purely defensive and not based on a specific threat, is oriented to preserve the territorial integrity of the Alliance, with modular and flexible security measures, which can be increased or reduced according to the security situation.

Guarantee measures are the continued military presence and significant activity in the eastern part of the alliance by NATO countries, on a rotational basis.

These defensive measures demonstrate NATO's collective solidarity and its commitment to protect all allied countries.
