Il Military Technical Committee for Lebanon (Military Technical Committee for Lebanon – MTC4L) organized and conducted the first day at the shooting range for low operational readiness units within the 8th Brigade of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).
The live-fire activity, which was conducted in the training hub of Saadyat, a LAF base located approximately 30 km south of Beirut, saw the use of Italian trainers who shared techniques and procedures for the safe use of individual weapons in service with the Lebanese army.
The occasion allowed the Committee, a technical multilateral coordination body, to increasingly insert itself into a mechanism consolidated over time, where the Italian-led contingents of the UNIFIL mission and MIBIL are already long-standing protagonists.
Familiarization with small arms and unit weapons and application of procedures to operate them safely is not only part of one of the Committee's tasks, with reference to capacity building, but is also an incentive for the recruitment of new LAF forces.
Il Military Technical Committee, currently composed of 8 partner nations (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain and the United States), in addition to supporting the training of the Lebanese army, also focuses its efforts on supporting the local population, a key element in fostering renewed confidence in the work of the LAF.
