From September 19 to 23, the aircraft carrier Cavour and the frigate Alpine, flanked by Nave Britain of the Marine Nationale, part of the Italian carrier strike group, made a stop in Singapore.

The stay at the Changi Naval Base (Singapore) was an opportunity to organize, on board the ship Alpine, the seminar dedicated to "marine robotics".

The event was introduced by the Italian Ambassador to Singapore, Dante Brandi, and by Admiral Andrea Gueglio representing the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Credendino, and was attended, among others, by officers of the Italian and Singaporean navies as well as academics from prestigious universities in the two countries.

The seminar highlighted the technological advances resulting from the collaboration between Italy and Singapore which, in line with the 2016 Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement, aim to jointly advance research and development in marine robotics, with the aim of establishing new global standards in the field.

Furthermore, with the growing importance of the security of submarine cables for internet data transmission and energy, sectors in which Italian companies are also active in the Southeast Asia region, innovation in marine technology remains a central priority in the cooperation between Italy and Singapore.

The EU's priority remains maritime safety, as reiterated by its presence on board the Cavour by EU Ambassador to Singapore Iwona Piórko.

Still on the subject of cooperation in the military field, in order to continue to develop forms of cooperation with the allied navies and partners present in a region increasingly central to the definition of international balances, noteworthy visits were made by Rear Admiral Todd F. Cimicata, commander of the US Navy's West Pacific Logistics Command and Task Force 73, Major General Marcus B. Annibale, commander general of the 1st aircraft wing of the Marine Corps, and the commander of the Singapore Navy fleet Rear Admiral Kwan Hon Chong.
