The Italian Carrier Strike Group stops in Jakarta: the aircraft carrier Cavour, the frigate Alpine and the multipurpose combat ship Raimondo Montecuccoli were hosted, from 14 to 17 September, in the imposing Indonesian capital located on the north-western coast of the island of Java.
For the units of the Italian Navy's national aircraft carrier group, engaged in the first operational campaign in the Indo-Pacific, an important step in support of the Country System for Italy's interest in developing and strengthening bilateral relations with partners in the region, as demonstrated by the visits to the Navy ships by the Italian Ambassador to Indonesia, Benedetto Latteri, and the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Navy (KASAL), Admiral Muhammad Alì.
During the stopover, attention was mainly focused on Nave Montecuccoli, which hosted the third stage – after the one in Yokosuka (Japan) aboard the Cavour and Manila (Philippines) on the frigate Alpine – of the Italian Defence Industries Forum, an initiative of the General Secretariat of Defence and National Armaments Directorate, represented by Chief Inspector Admiral Giuseppe Abbamonte, and of the Federation of Italian Companies for Aerospace, Defence and Security (AIAD).
Introduced by the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, the event, open to representatives of the Defense sector, involved, in particular, the Indonesian Navy, which appreciated the Italian shipbuilding industry.
