The personnel of the 9th Alpine Regiment, deployed in Misurata at the detachment of Bilateral Assistance and Support Mission in Libya (MIASIT), has been called to carry out, in recent weeks, some training activities for the Libyan Armed Forces.
In particular, the Alpine instructors, thanks to the vast operational experience gained in various contexts in Italy and abroad, conducted the course in Misurata OPS Room Management for 14 soldiers of the 307th unit of the Counter Terrorism Force (CTF), while in Tripoli they completed the basic infantry course for 20 soldiers of the 52nd brigade.
Attendees had the opportunity to acquire tactics, techniques and procedures useful in individual and team combat, learning the procedures for setting up and managing a military operations room.
The training continued with the advanced infantry course, conducted by a Mobile Training Team (MTT) coming from the Army Infantry School, which will end with the module dedicated to combat techniques in inhabited centres.
This year alone, the Italian contingent in Libya has completed 50 courses, for a total of approximately 700 trained soldiers from all the Libyan Armed Forces, with MTTs belonging to the Italian Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the 'Carabinieri weapon.
The objective is to conduct education, training, consultancy, assistance, support and mentoring activities in favor of the Libyan security forces and government institutions, in order to increase their overall potential within the framework of the capacity building defined by the Italian-Libyan cooperation plan.
