The Italian contingent of the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, currently on a brigade basis Aosta, inaugurated a project for the construction of the Majda Zun Municipality football field, a town in the heart of the responsibility area entrusted to Italy.

The work was completed with national funds as part of the Civil and Military Cooperation (CIMIC) projects of the Italian contingent, coordinated by the staff of the Multinational CIMIC Group of Motta di Livenza.

The project, which is added to the many other activities in support of the population of the Land of the Cedars, has favored the stabilization and consolidation of relations with the Majda Zun community.

The initiative was carried out by the Italian military in compliance with the mandate given by the Resolution 1701/2006 of the United Nations Security Council.

On the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, the mayor of the Lebanese city, Salman Salman, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Italian contingent of the UNIFIL mission in Lebanon.

In this circumstance, to seal the renewed friendship, Mayor Salman handed over the keys to Majda Zun to Brigadier General Bruno Pisciotta, commander of the contingent.

The Civil and Military Cooperation, better known by the acronym CIMIC, as an operational function in support of the contingent, carries out an important interaction in close contact with the civilian component of the local population and with all non-military organizations involved in the decisive choices to favor of a community.
