Restyling for the hematology department of the Bint Jbeil hospital, as part of the mission in Lebanon, thanks to a development project in the health sector carried out by the Italian contingent of Unifil, the United Nations Interposition Force deployed on the border with the state of Israel.
The works, designed and directed by the contingent and carried out with funds from the Ministry of Defense, concerned the extraordinary maintenance of the first floor of the government hospital, an area of about 680 square meters that can count on 16 double rooms, for a total of 32 beds, intended for the treatment of patients suffering from blood diseases, including very serious ones, such as leukemia, lymphomas and myelomas.
"The renovations have created a modern and avant-garde department that will increase the quality and comfort of clinical care for patients", said the hospital director, Taufil Farj, on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, which was attended by the mayor of Aytarun, Salim Mrad, the mayor of Yarun, Ali Tehfeh, and the commander of the West sector of Unifil, general of brigade Andrea Di Stasio.
"Thanks to the intervention of the Italian contingent, to which we thank for the proximity and the usual attention to satisfying the health needs of the district, it will be possible to resume at full speed the activities connected with the diagnosis and treatment of blood pathologies that can also affect the younger sections of the population ". As explained by the director of the hospital, the department is confirmed more and more "An excellence in the field of assistance and emergency-urgency consolidation of the entire governorate of Nabatiye".
"The right of every citizen to health", underlined General Di Stasio, “It is fundamental for the country's well-being and prosperity. These are the cornerstones for the elevation of the dignity of the individual in every society and therefore of primary interest also for the entire Lebanese people. For this reason I immediately agreed with the proposal and the need to intervene promptly, compatibly with the planning and execution times of the works, in the realization of this project, pursuing the restoration and full functionality of the health facility in the shortest possible time ".
