Lebanon: the "Cavalleggeri Guide" rgt takes over from the "Novara" rancers

Yesterday afternoon, at the Italian base of Al Mansouri, the ceremony of changing the units led by ITALBATT, between the "Lancieri di Novara" regiment (5 °) of Codroipo (UD) under the command of the col. Elio Babbo and the regiment "Cavalleggeri Guide" (19 °) of Salerno, with structures provided by the 7 ° Bersaglieri regiment of Altamura, under the orders of the col. Angelo Malizia, to their third job in the Lebanese operational theater.

The commander of the Joint Task Force Lebanon, gen. b. Stefano Del Col, who was present at the event, expressed gratitude to the Lancieri of the "Novara", pointing out the commendable work done and highlighting the strong closeness with the local population.

In recent months, numerous civil-military cooperation and medical assistance projects have been carried out with more than 2000 people visited during the medical care activities conducted in Italbatt's 24 municipalities.

In particular, projects for over 200.000 € have been carried out, such as water wells for the municipalities of Al Mansouri and Al Qulayla, donations of two ambulances and more than 2500 kit of school supplies distributed in all schools in the area of responsibility for helmets other Italian blue.

At the helm of ITALBATT since last 24 April 2014, the Lancieri regiment of "Novara" has carried out, in the activities of support to the local population in adherence to the UN 1701 resolution and in assistance to the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF), more than 4000 activities patrols to ensure the safety of the most sensitive areas of south Lebanon and beyond 500 joint activities with the LAF.
