12/09/14

The blue helmets of the Italian contingent of Unifil have created and inaugurated a project for the supply of water in favor of the municipality of Al Qulaylah, a village located in the area where the military of the Italian contingent operates, currently based on the Ariete brigade.

In particular, the project, coordinated by CIMIC technicians of the Joint Task Force Lebanon, directed by Lieutenant Colonel Venanzio Abbatinali, consisted in the drilling of a well with a depth of about four hundred meters and in the subsequent assembly of a pump for the draft of the water.

Thanks to the realization of this work, whose works have lasted about four weeks, the whole community of Al Qulaylah will now have access to water. Previously only the 40% of the village benefited from the water service.

Assistance to the local population is one of the main tasks assigned to Unifil by United Nations Resolution 1701, together with monitoring the cessation of hostilities and supporting the Lebanese armed forces, tasks that the soldiers of the Ariete brigade carry out here with commitment, professionalism. and transparency.
