Lebanon: the Italian blue helmets teachers and instructors

In recent days, the Italian blue helmets have organized, at the base "Millevoi" of Shama headquarters of the Joint Task Force Lebanon on a brigade basis "Granatieri di Sardegna, a series of activities and meetings in favor of the population of South Lebanon.

In particular, the Group Adherence Support (CSS BN - Combat Service Support Battalion) based on 1 ° transport regiment, under the command of Colonel Mario Stefano Riva, organized the closing ceremony of the Italian language course conducted, in recent months, in favor of 18 small pupils of the Yarin public school.

The municipal civil authorities, the director and the educators of the school attended the event.

During the ceremony the commander of the Italian contingent - Brigadier General Maurizio Riccò, thanking those present said that "knowing languages ​​is not important for languages ​​in itself but for the integration of people and their knowledge does nothing more than facilitate one another in mutual understanding ".

The event concluded with the delivery of certificates of participation to the small students of the course and the donation of a copy of the work "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint - Exupéry, as a symbol of a cosmopolitan vision of the true sense of fraternal love and friendship, the spirit that animates the constant efforts made by the Italian blue helmets to support the local population.

Furthermore, again at the "Millevoi" base in Shama and in conjunction with other UN offices, the "Mine Awareness Day" was held - an international UNIFIL day on the awareness of the local population on the subject of mines, under the aegis of UNMAST ( United Nations Mine Action Support Team) and with the participation of Chinese deminers and their commander - Colonel Tang Bing.

In particular, the operational support battalion (CS BN - Combat Support Battalion), led by Lieutenant Colonel Maurizio Todaro, organized a static exhibition and a series of recreational-educational areas on the danger of mines and UXO (Unexploded Ordnance) , intended for around 80 children from different schools in the Italian area of ​​responsibility.

The "small" guests also witnessed simulated activities with the explosive detection dog (EDD - Explosive Detection Dog) and the "robot" used by the bomb squad for the manipulation and disarticulation of improvised explosive devices (IED - Improvised Explosive Device).
