Lebanon: the Italian Blue Helmets collaborate with Caritas

A donation of toys and clothes for children was made by ITALBATT, maneuvering battalion of the Italian contingent in Lebanon based on the lagoon regiment Serene, in favor of the CARITAS of Alma Ash Sha'b, a municipality present in the area of ​​operations of the Peacekeepers Italians led by Brigadier General Massimiliano Stecca.

The donation was held in the local Christian church, in the presence of ten. with the. Terenzio Mazzei, commander of the ITALBATT squadron and Father Anthony Maroun, parish priest of the church and local representative of CARITAS.

The donated material arrived from Italy thanks to the commitment of the International Association Regina Elena and the Sacred Military Constantinian Order of San Giorgio, among the numerous volunteer and assistance organizations that responded to the call to help the Lebanese population in a moment of serious social and economic crisis.

The donation was organized and conducted by the ITALBATT Cell S9, the cell that takes care of the Civil-Military Cooperation part of the Italian battalion, through the use of the Cimic Coordination Team.

The Italian mission in Lebanon is currently led by a cavalry brigade Pozzuolo del Friuli, in his sixth term in the Land of the Cedars with the colors of the United Nations, and is responsible for the West Sector of UNIFIL in which 3800 UN peacekeepers operate from 15 of the 46 contributing countries to the UN mission and of which about 1.000 Italian soldiers are part of.

The activities carried out in the operating theater are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by the Interoperable Summit Operations Command (COVI), led by the general of the army corps Francesco Paolo Figliulo.
