Lebanon: video laryngoscopy systems donated

Three innovative video laryngoscopy systems, useful for the clear and real-time visualization of a patient's airways, were donated by the Italian contingent of the United Nations deployed in South Lebanon (Unifil) to the anesthesia and resuscitation wards of the Bint Jbeil hospitals. Tibnin and Tiro, important reference centers in the country for the management of the epidemiological emergency from Covid-19.

The equipment, which will integrate and enhance the instrumentation supplied to the three Lebanese health centers, allows to minimize the patient's intubation times and to limit the exposure of health personnel to the oropharyngeal secretions of people potentially affected by Coronavirus, allowing to anesthesiologists and resuscitators to work more safely and effectively.

The machines were delivered during symbolic ceremonies organized in open spaces in compliance with anti-Covid measures, in which the commander of the Italian contingent in Lebanon, General Andrea Di Stasio, the mayor and president of the Union of Municipalities of Tire, Hassan Dbouk, and medical staff of the government hospitals of the three municipalities.

The donation, entirely financed with funds from the Italian Ministry of Defense and of fundamental importance at this historical moment, is part of the civil-military cooperation projects promoted and finalized by the Italian contingent despite Covid-19, to guarantee assistance to population in the fight against the virus, which still yesterday, throughout the country, recorded thousands of new cases of positivity and numerous deaths.
