Burj Ash Shamali (Lebanon) - The military of the Italian contingent of Unifil operating in Southern Lebanon carried out an important delivery of medical supplies, including orthopedic aids, portable defibrillators, stretchers, wheelchairs, first aid kits and toys , in favor of a Lebanese civil protection association, the "Al Rissalah" scouts, who have always been involved in first aid, firefighting, support for the population in the event of public calamities and in promoting peace and unity among peoples .

The activity was carried out in the village of Burj Ash Shamali, a few kilometers from Tiro, by the Italian "blue helmets" of Italbatt, the unit based on the 3rd Bersaglieri regiment, deployed for just over a month in Southern Lebanon under the aegis of the UN, in the delicate task of guaranteeing the stability of the area and supporting the Lebanese population, especially in this difficult period of economic crisis and Covid-19 pandemic.

The mayor of Burj Ash Shamali, Ali Deeb, and the president of the "Al Rissalah" association, Ahmed Taleb, thanked the Italian peacekeepers for their closeness and solidarity towards the civilian population and affirmed that the donation will guarantee the necessary support. of the weakest and most needy.

Colonel Carlo Di Pinto, commander of the Italian Unifil regiment, in thanking the young Lebanese volunteers for the important and fundamental work they do in the territory, expressed all his satisfaction and that of his soldiers in helping the Lebanese people, so close to Italy and Sardinia for history and culture, with the hope that these gestures of solidarity can alleviate the suffering caused by the economic crisis and the health emergency resulting from the pandemic.
