The Metropolitan Archbishop of Tire, Monsignor Michael Abrass, leader of the Greek-Catholic community in southern Lebanon, presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration for the saints on Sunday at the Millevoi base in Shama, headquarters of the command of the sector west of Unifil patrons of some army specialties, present in operations, whose anniversaries occur in September.

After the religious service, concelebrated by the military chaplain of the contingent, Fr Flavio Riva, the archbishop visited for the first time the headquarters of the Lebanon joint task force and spent some moments with the Italian peacekeepers and their commander, General Fabio Polli.

In remembering the Blessed Virgin of the Way, patron saint of the Bersaglieri, San Maurizio martyr, patron saint of the Alpine troops, San Michele Arcangelo, patron saint of paratroopers and San Gabriele Arcangelo, patron of the weapon of transmissions, Monsignor Abrass wanted to emphasize the importance of the mission carried out by the military contingent of UNIFIL for the stability and security of the area, thanking the Italian blue helmets for their commitment in favor of peace.
