Lebanon: training activities in combat psychology

The collaboration between the command of the Sector West of UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces south of the Litani.

Among others, with the support of the psychologist officer of the major contingent Concita Carbone, a training activity in the field of combat psychology was started, with the main objective of enhancing self-awareness in trained personnel and avoiding surprise effect, on an emotional level, which very often compromises the decision-making process and the effectiveness of the action.

This training is part of UNIFIL's efforts to strengthen the LAF's capabilities in supporting its goal of taking full control of UNIFIL's area of ​​operations.

The diaphragmatic breathing technique was also examined, among those to preserve the lucidity and awareness necessary in moments of greater difficulty and complexity, enhancing concentration and attention.

UNIFIL works side by side with the Lebanese Army, a point of reference for the entire population of great commitment and devotion to duty, highlighted General Roberto Vergori, commander of the West Sector of UNIFIL.

"We work in close coordination with the Lebanese Army with awareness and responsibility to ensure full compliance with Resolution 1701 and support local institutions to maintain security and stability in South Lebanon, offering all our physical and mental energies. As all Soldiers spend our lives for others with dedication and professionalism and to defend the moral values ​​to which we have dedicated our lives, always putting the interests of the community first".

The activities carried out in the Operative Theater are conducted under the coordination and according to the directives given by the operational command of interforce forces (COVI), which is the defense high command responsible for planning, coordinating and directing military operations, national and multinational joint exercises and related activities.
