Latvia: “Paladin Forge” exercise completed

In recent days the task group Italian "Baltic" completed its first multinational exercise called "Paladin Forge".

This event saw the participation of units from all countries involved in the operation Forward Land Forces (FLF) in Latvia, who were engaged in planning and conduct exercises, aimed at improving cohesion and interoperability between the different components of the Alliance, to respond effectively to potential threats.

The Italian soldiers, whose operational component is mainly drawn from the "Garibaldi" Bersaglieri Brigade of the Italian Army, participated in numerous activities to acquire further familiarity with the terrain, the technical-tactical procedures, the weapon systems, the means and materials from the other units of battle group. Logistics integration played a key role, allowing obstacles to be overcome with mobile bridges and providing logistical support to maneuver units.

With the company task group "Baltic", Italy contributes to the NATO initiative Forward Land Forces (FLF), which holds four battle group multinationals along the eastern flank of the Alliance, each led by a Framework Nation (Canada in Latvia, Germany in Lithuania, the United Kingdom in Estonia and the USA in Poland), to strengthen deterrence in the Euro-Atlantic region. The operations and training of the Italian Armed Forces in this area are directed by the Chief of Defense Staff and coordinated by operational command of interforce forces (COVI).

The soldiers who are part of the Italian contingent of XV rotation in Latvia he comes from the "Garibaldi" brigade command, from the 8th Bersaglieri regiment, from the "Guide" cavalry regiment (19th), from the 4th tank regiment, from the 21st sappers engineer regiment, from the 17th "Sforzesca" anti-aircraft artillery regiment , from the 7th CBRN defense regiment "Cremona" and from a JTAC Team of the "Serenissima" lagoon regiment, from the "Garibaldi" logistics regiment, from the 4th command and tactical support department and from the 232nd transmission regiment.
