From 28 October to 2 November, as part of an initiative promoted by NATO Force Integration Unit Latvia, the Italian company has been engaged in a series of activities in favor of the Standing NATO Maritime Group 1 (SNMG-1), a naval group consisting of Norwegian, Dutch and Danish units, with the aim of increasing mutual knowledge between NATO land and naval forces present on the East flank.

In particular, the Italian company had the delicate task of representing the battle group multinational in a fire exercise, in favor of a SNMG-1 representation, held on October 29 at the training areas of Camp Adazi, as well as participating in a static exhibition at the port of Riga, where the naval units were moored.

In this activity, the Bersaglieri, the tankers and the exploration units conducted a sequence of fire exercises in complete synergy with the Spanish engineers, demonstrating a high level of interoperability and common knowledge of NATO procedures, assimilated in the previous joint exercises.

On November 1st, however, the operator Joint Terminal Attack Controller Italian (JTAC - units of the Armed Force highly specialized in the management of different sources of fire in the modern scenario, with the aim of maximizing the effects and reducing the risk of collateral damage), together with the counterparts of the other contingents and observers of the artillery batteries, participated in a training activity with naval assets of the SNMG-1 engaged in the conduct of a fire exercise on targets at sea.

Again, the Italian forces in Latvia gave clear demonstration of the cohesion and determination among the countries of the Atlantic Alliance to work assiduously for the defense of the Euro-Atlantic territorial integrity.

All operational and training activities conducted by the Italian Armed Forces on the east flank of NATO are arranged by the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, and carried out under the coordination and according to the directives given by the commander of the operational command of interforce forces (COVI), general of the army corps Francesco Paolo Figliuolo.
