Latvia: Full Operational Capability for the Italian contingent

The task group Baltic has recently completed the second phase of the training cycle reaching the Full Operational Capability (FOC) as part of the “Oak Resolve 25” exercise.
The activity, under the control of the multinational brigade Latvia led by Canada, was aimed at verifying the integrated combat readiness of the employee battle group multinational, which includes the components of the Italian Army participating in the NATO Forward Land Forces (FLF) mission.​​

The exercise involved approximately 1.500 soldiers from the various nations of the Alliance present in Latvian territory who, for a continuous period of seven days, were employed in a scenario warfghiting high intensity, in the conduct of a series of defensive, offensive and maneuver support activities on the ground.

“Oak Resolve 25”, consolidating training on the standardized application of technical-tactical procedures refined throughout the entire training cycle, underlined how, under the motto “NATO Stands As One”, the integration between NATO forces is real and guarantees a prompt, coordinated and credible response.

During the exercise, the Italian component, mainly drawn from the 132nd armoured brigade "Ariete" of the Italian Army, and the units of the battle group, they were confronted with equal units constituting the Opposing Forces (OPFOR) in a maneuver aimed at an initial absorption of the enemy's effort through a combination of static and dynamic defensive actions, then transformed into a counterattack.

In all phases of the exercise, the logistical support of the assets combat service support national, guaranteed despite the challenging environmental conditions, has allowed the maneuver units to maintain a high level of efficiency thanks to a prompt and effective system of supply of means and materials.
