At the end of the flag raising, the commander of the UNIFIL sector west, general Fabio Polli, in front of the deployment of the Italian blue helmets of the Joint Task Force Lebanon, laid a laurel wreath on the cenotaph of Shama's Millevoi base, in memory of the military who in every time and place have lost their lives in the service of their country.
Afterwards, after the honor to the fallen, the greeting messages from the institutional authorities were read out for the occasion. A similar ceremony was also held at the Al Mansouri base, headquarters of ITALBATT, the Italian contingent's operating unit set up from staff of the Lancieri regiment of Novara (5 °) under the orders of Colonel Elio Babbo.
On this day so important for Italy, the simple but significant celebrations have highlighted the profound connection between the personnel of the Italian armed forces employed in Lebanon in the UNIFIL mission and the nation itself which, through the messages of the highest offices of the state, expressed support for all the soldiers in service abroad.
