The president of Kosovo Atifete Jahjaga visits the command of KFOR

Kosovo President Madame Atifete Jahjaga paid an official visit to KFOR headquarters.

It is the first time since General Farina assumed command of the KFOR mission that President Jahjaga visits NATO command in the base of "Film City" in Pristina.

During the meeting, President Jahjaga and General Farina discussed the current situation and security in Kosovo and in the Balkan area with particular reference to the most sensitive areas north of the Ibar river.

General Farina underlined the improvement in the security sector thanks to the greater capacities acquired by the Kosovo Police and thanks to the climate of greater confidence that followed the agreement between Pristina and Belgrade on the 19 April last year.

COM KFOR confirmed the continued effort of the NATO mission to support peace, cooperation and dialogue.

In a meeting with the international staff, President Jahjaga was updated on the role of KFOR, as the third security officer, with particular reference to the upcoming general elections of 8 June, confirming the effective and close cooperation with Kosovo Police and all the other international organizations in maintaining a safe environment in Kosovo.

President Jahjaga, for her part, expressed words of appreciation for the exceptional contribution provided by KFOR in the Kosovo stabilization process, underlining the great professionalism of the over 5500 men and women, of the different nations 30, participating in the NATO mission.

President Jahjaga, accompanied by General Farina, at the end of her visit paid tribute, with the deposition of a crown, to all the soldiers of KFOR who fell during the mission.
