In this context the CREVAL is inserted, the evaluation process with which NATO, through a series of verifications, certifies the operational readiness of the commands and units of the countries of the Atlantic Alliance.

The 1st Bersaglieri Regiment is the national unit, included in the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF) for 2021, which was subjected to validation by a National Evaluator Team integrated by NATO observers from theAllied Land Command, which has its headquarters in Izmir in Turkey.

The assessors examined the regiment's operational capabilities in the areas of operations planning, combat support activities and command and control, in order to certify its level of readiness.

The evaluation developed in two distinct phases: in the first of these, held at the “Settino” barracks in Cosenza, the organic consistency of means and materials supplied to the unit was verified; a second phase took place in the training area of Mucone (CS), where the regiment deployed in its configuration of heavy infantry units, on armored combat vehicles Dart, conducting specific exercises to test the ability to operate in a "war" scenario.

At the end of the activities, the 1st Bersaglieri regiment was certified “Combat Ready”.
