It had been 10 years since a Navy ship had touched Angolan soil, the last time was the 30th naval group that docked in the port of Luanda in 2014 with the aircraft carrier Cavour, the supplier Etna and the frigate Bergamini. The numerous activities carried out during the entire duration of the stopover have contributed to further intensify the strong bond of international cooperation, establishing a concrete presence of our Navy on the territory, for which the Italian Ambassador in Luanda, Cristiano Gallo, declared himself happy and deeply proud during the various speeches in which he was present on board the patrol vessel.

In the presence of the ambassador, on October 25, the Italian ship became the venue for an important medical course on Emergency Management entitled “Just in Time in Low Resource Settings”, held by the NGO Medici Con L'Africa CUAMM (Collegio Universitario Aspiranti Medici Missionari) in collaboration with the CRIMEDIM Institute of the University of Novara, with the main objective of providing local and foreign health workers, nurses and biologists present with a common background of information and notions on specific knowledge for natural and non-natural disasters, in a territory, such as Africa, where such emergency situations are very often the order of the day.

At sunset, however, the proudly displayed tricolor, the hangar and the flight deck set up as for “great occasions”, provided the ideal setting to allow the commander and the crew, with the support of the Italian embassy, ​​to host 142 guests including local and foreign civil and military authorities operating in the territory. The event took place in the presence of the Angolan Chief of Defense, the representative of the European Union in Angola, the ambassadors of the UN, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Morocco, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the Apostolic Nuncio who were able to appreciate the presence of the Unit in port in a climate of jovial and at the same time refined serenity.

Finally, before leaving again and resuming its commitment in the Atlantic, several visits were made to the commander of the Port, the director nacional de Politica de Defesa and the commander of the naval fleet, as well as an organized visit to the museum of military history and the museum of money for the benefit of the ship's crew.
