Kuwait, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force visits the Ali Al Salem air base

The Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force, Air Force General Luca Goretti, visited the Ali Al Salem air base. Welcomed by the commander of theItalian national contingent command Air – task force Air Kuwait (IT NCC AIR – TFA K), Colonel Matteo Zuliani, met the Italian contingent, expressing words of appreciation for their work in Kuwait and for their dedication in maintaining peace and security in the area.

The general also thanked the international representatives present for their constant support. Among the guests, also the Italian Ambassador to Kuwait Lorenzo Morini.

Colonel Zuliani highlighted the contingent's commitment in the fight against Daesh, alongside coalition forces and in support of the Armed Forces in operations in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.

After the inauguration of the new monument in memory of the fallen, General Goretti visited the logistics areas, in particular the so-called "expansion area", where the modernization and construction of new accommodation units continues, under the supervision of theinfrastructure management centre (BMI).

On this occasion, General Goretti was able to witness the operational activities of the assets and task groups of the Air Kuwait task force present at the Al Salem airport: the Eurofighter F-2000, the MQ9-A “Predator B” and the I2MEC (Italian Integrated Multisensor Exploitation Capability), with which surveillance, reconnaissance and information gathering missions are carried out, in addition to the C-130J which carries out tactical transport activities and medical evacuation in collaboration with the force protection unit and the medical team. 

The visit ended with a greeting to the staff of the Joint Intendancy Administrative Centre (CAI-I), which provides administrative support to all operational missions in the area, and the signing of the IT NCC Air – TFA K honour roll.

The Italian National Contingent Command Air – Task Force Air Kuwait, was established on 17 October 2014 and placed under the control – for national aspects – of the Joint Operations Command. It participates in the operation Prima Parthica/Ineherent Resolve as part of the international anti-ISIS coalition.
