Kuwait, training activities between the Italian Air Force and the Iraqi Air Force continue

Joint training between Italian and Iraqi aircraft continues, with the Task Group Typhoon of the Kuwait Air Task Force which tested tactics and procedures in air-to-air missions to strengthen interoperability and coordination capabilities with the Iraqi Air Force.

The exercise, which is part of the initiatives planned by the multinational mission “Prima Parthica/Ineherent Resolve”, saw the participation of two Italian Eurofighter F-2000s and four Iraqi F-16s, engaged in several simulated interceptions. 

The Eurofighters used are deployed in Kuwait at the Ali al-Salem Air Base. These are advanced fourth-generation multi-role (Swing Role) military aircraft, with a primary role as an interceptor fighter and air superiority, which also express air-to-ground capabilities. 

At the end of the training events, Colonel Matteo Zuliani, commander of theItalian National Contingent Command Air – Task Force Air Kuwait, stressed the importance of training in multinational and joint contexts, which is essential to ensure the effectiveness of operations and increase synergy between Coalition forces, in order to guarantee international stability and security. 

THEItalian National Contingent Command Air / Task Force Air Kuwait It was established on 17 October 2014 and placed under the control - for national aspects - of the joint operational command.

Join the operation Prima Parthica/Ineherent Resolve within the international anti-ISIS coalition, ensuring the command and the synergic and coordinated use of the capabilities provided, deployed in Kuwait and Iraq and engaged in activities Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR), Air to Air Refueling (AAR), strategic and tactical air transport (Airlift), Electronic Warfare (EW), Medical Evacuation (Medevac) and logistical and administrative support.
