16/10/14

The commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, expressed his appreciation for the professionalism demonstrated by the security forces in the city of Mitrovica, in the context of the soccer match held on Tuesday between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade.

KFOR supported the Kosovar police and EULEX, both constantly monitoring the situation through the Carabinieri of the Multinational Specialized Unit and the Liaison and Monitoring Teams-North, and rapidly deploying their maneuvering units in the areas adjacent to the Austerlitz bridge in Mitrovica.

After the interruption of the match, in fact, many people who were following the meeting began to gather on both sides of the bridge, but the deployment of forces prepared by the Kosovar police and EULEX allowed to effectively control the situation, acting as a deterrent factor.

The commander of KFOR expressed his satisfaction with the professionalism shown by the Kosovar police in ensuring the necessary security framework that avoided accidents and for the general good sense shown by the local population which then dispersed peacefully.
