The paratroopers of the 183rd "Nembo" regiment of the Italian Army, engaged in the NATO operation Joint Enterprise, carry out, among the tasks assigned to them, patrolling activities along the demarcation line (Administrative Boundary Line - ABL) which separates Kosovo from Serbia.

The 183rd "Nembo" Regiment, framework unit of the Regional Command West (RC-W) located in Pec, operates in an area of approximately 8.000 square kilometers characterized by impervious terrain. The demarcation line extends in the area of responsibility under Italian command for over 16 kilometers, reaching 1.500 meters of altitude.

The Italian soldiers of the RC-W conduct patrol activities on board the Lightweight Multirole Tactical Vehicle (VTLM) “Lince” and the BV 206S tracked vehicle, making use of specific equipment in case of movements on foot in impervious and snowy areas.

Control of the ABL is one of the tasks assigned to KFOR units. The constant presence along this area ensures compliance with the agreements established in the Military Technical Agreement signed in 1999, ensuring an adequate security framework.

The RC-W of KFOR, currently under the leadership of Colonel Francesco Errico, conducts operational activities aimed at ensuring the maintenance of conditions of stability and security. It also promotes cooperation between international organizations and local authorities, in compliance with the principles of transparency and impartiality in relations with the different realities present in Kosovo, in line with what is established by the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999.
