KFOR: donations in support of the Kosovar population

The civil-military cooperation between the Italian soldiers of the Regional Command West (RC-W) and the Kosovar population is proceeding at a brisk pace.

Donations made by the Italian unit of the multinational command of the KFOR mission took place in the third decade of November, respectively in the municipalities of Klina / Kline and Peja / Pec, which currently involves the Army paratroopers of the brigade thunderbolt with the “Yellow Devils” of the 185th Parachute Artillery Regiment.

The donation made to the municipality of Klina / Kline saw the construction of water pumps for the supply of water for "service" use in favor of the inhabitants of the villages of Vidanje, Jagoda and Deiq present in the same municipality. The first two are ethnic Albanian and Serbian villages, while Deiq is ethnic Albanian.

The execution of this work was carried out in order to increase the ability to provide an essential good for the entire population and at the same time make the water supply in the villages more effective.

Ms. Silvia Raskovic, responsible for the community of returned to Kosovo (MOCRs) and the commander of the RC-W Colonel Andrea Bertazzo were present at the ceremony, carried out at the premises of the municipality.

The head of the MOCRs representing the mayor thanked the commander of RC-W for the important realization of the project which from now on will guarantee constant availability of water to the entire community of the villages concerned.

The second civil-military cooperation activity was carried out by the Italian contingent in the municipality of Peje / Pec. The donation saw the delivery of technical and IT material to the radio station Radio 1 Peja.

This broadcaster, which covers the area of ​​the entire municipality with its broadcasts, in addition to transmitting through an online site, has a rich schedule of programs very popular with young people. This donation will allow the broadcaster to continue its valuable information and entertainment activity for the population of Peja / Pec, using the new technologies offered by the market and thus improving its transmission capabilities.

The commander of the RC-W, Colonel Andrea Bertazzo, on the occasion of the donation represented to the chief editor of the radio, Mr. Arber Grabovci, the importance of the media and of impartial information in the cultural and democratic development of a nation. The editor-in-chief thanked the Italian contingent of the equipment supplied, stating that these Italian-made equipment will guarantee him the possibility of enhancing their schedules.

The Italian contingent of the KFOR mission, with the completion of its civil-military cooperation projects, will continue to ensure the fulfillment of the mission's task according to the dictates of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999, in order to guarantee a safe and secure environment for all communities living in Kosovo.
