The Airmobile Task Group "Griffon", a unit of the Italian Army Aviation employed in Iraqi Kurdistan as part of the "Prima Parthica" operation, has reached the milestone of 6.500 operational flight hours since 30 March 2016, which highlights the significant contribution given to the stabilization of Iraq and the efforts made for international security.

ATG "Griffon" provides support to the multinational coalition Inherent Resolve and to the Italian contingent in Iraq.

The department's assets, under the control of a Combat Aviation Brigade American, operate aboard UH-90A twin-engine multi-role helicopters, with the aim of ensuring flexibility and rapidity of intervention and guaranteeing the air transport of national and international equipment, materials and troops, in support of the efforts deployed by the Coalition in the fight against DAESH.

The “Griffon” crews operate in close collaboration with the US Task Force "Nighthawk", also deployed in Erbil, an element that allows for a continuous strengthening of cooperation and interoperability between the Allied Forces.
