Iraq: change at the top of Task Group Griffon

It took place in recent days, at theItalian ramp of the Erbil Air Base, in Iraqi Kurdistan, in the presence of the consul of Italy in Erbil, Michele Camerota, the alternation ceremony, between Lieutenant Colonel Mirko Pompei transferor and the parigrade Stefano Marchetti, at the helm of theAirmobile Task Group Griffon (ATG), rotary wing unit of theItalian Nationale Contingent Command - Land (IT NCC-L) under the command of Colonel Piercarlo Miglio.

During the ceremony, which was attended by a representation of US and Spanish soldiers belonging to the Combat Aviation Brigade which operationally employs the Griffon in the context of the Missions in Iraq, Colonel Miglio, in his speech, addressed his thoughts to all members of the coalition and thanked the transferring commander for the flattering results achieved also for the support given to the NATO Mission Iraq (NM-I), with the employee air rotary wing deployed in Al Asad, stressing, like the ATG Griffon it is one of the best units deployed in Iraq, of which to be proud for the numerous achievements and recognized in the coalition. 

The solemn passage of the banner formally sanctioned the transfer of authority between the two departments, 5th AVES regiment Rigel of Casarsa della Delizia and the 7th AVES regiment Vega of Rimini.

The event took place in compliance with the containment measures of the contagion from Covid-19.
