In recent days the "Griffon" Aircraft Task Group, a helicopter unit of the Italian Army engaged since the spring of 2016 in the Operation Inherent Resolve, achieved a milestone of absolute depth, reaching the threshold of 2000 flight hours with UH90 helicopters in Iraqi theater of operations. This significant milestone, achieved only three years after the start of the operation, took place on the occasion of an Air Mobility mission conducted, in the Iraqi skies, in joint training with two US assets, Chinook and Black Hawk of the Task Force "Gunfighter" . In particular, the UH90 of the "Griffon" Task Group have secured the transport of personnel and materials to the Coalition bases located in Q-West and Kirkuk.

The UH-90 multirole helicopter, supplied to the AVES (Army Aviation) departments, born from operational needs commonly expressed in the NATO / European Union context, was conceived, developed and built to be able to operate in different operational contexts, responding to all the specific requirements envisaged for tactical transport helicopters, ensuring high efficiency with a reduced maintenance effort.

The day and night capability to take off and land operation, even in adverse weather conditions, with tactical flight profile and hostile environment, is made possible through the integration of advanced technology systems with a sophisticated self-protection system against threats earth- air and air-air.

The Italian Army is increasingly in step with the technological advances applied to its operating sectors, combining the training of professional and highly trained soldiers with the use of latest-generation tools and operational means.

This result represents the achievement of a further goal made possible also thanks to the constant synergy and professionalism expressed by the technical-maintenance staff that determines the full operational efficiency of the assets in a climate-friendly Operating Theater.

Air Task Group Griffon personnel, currently based on 7th AV.ES. "Vega" of Rimini, celebrates this prestigious goal, the result of the commitment and sacrifice of all the men and women of the Army in blue berets, confirming the commitment to support the anti-Daesh coalition in the context of Operation "Inherent Resolve ".
