The return ceremony of the anti-aircraft contingent employed in Kuwait in Operation Inherent Resolve (OIR).
In over 3 years of operation, the anti-aircraft artillerymen of the 4th "Peschiera" anti-aircraft artillery regiment and the 17th "Sforzesca" anti-aircraft artillery regiment, with the help of the other regiments of the artillery counter-aircraft command (COMACA), took turns for 6 contingents, ensuring the protection of national, coalition and host nation forces from potential air and missile threats.
The SCUTUM task group, integrated into the air defense, carried out a delicate international cooperation mission and guaranteed the full operation of the SAMP/T missile system even in extreme climatic conditions.
The military ceremony was held in the presence of the commander of the Support Terrestrial Operating Forces, general of the army corps Massimo Scala and the local civil and military authorities.
General Scala, in greeting the men and women of the contingent that returned to Italy, complimented the anti-aircraft gunners of all the COMACA units for the professionalism and commitment demonstrated during the six mission mandates, highlighting how the competence , the seriousness and spirit of service that have always characterized its work have made it possible, even in this mission, to achieve results of the highest level, which have in fact increased the prestige of the Italian Armed Forces and the nation.
The presence of the COMACA institute flag, as well as the national medal collection of the national artillery association of Italy and the labarums of the combat and weapons associations, gave solemnity to the ceremony, guardian of the immutable ethical and moral values of the soldier and solid reference for the entire community of Army anti-aircraft artillerymen.
The SAMP/T anti-aircraft and anti-missile weapon system, cutting-edge technology for protection from multiple threats coming from the third dimension, has been used in multiple operational activities abroad and on national territory including the "Sagitta" operation in Turkey, the “Enhanced Vigilance Activity” (eVA) operation in Slovakia and the G7 in Puglia last June.
