The Grand Duke of Luxembourg visits KFOR

The commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), divisional general Salvatore Farina, received today at the multinational headquarters "Film City" in Pristina the Grand Duke Henry of Luxembourg.

Following the Grand Duke, among others, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Etienne Schneider, a delegation of parliamentarians, the Luxembourg ambassador in Kosovo Leon Del Vaux and the Chief of Staff of the General Defense Mario Daubelfeld.  

During the meeting, General Farina and the Grand Duke of Luxembourg discussed the current situation and security in Kosovo and in the Balkans, with particular reference to the more sensitive areas north of the river Ibar.

General Farina underlined the improvement in the security sector thanks to the greater capacities acquired by the Kosovo Police and thanks to the climate of greater confidence that followed the agreement between Pristina and Belgrade on the 19 April last year.

In a meeting with the KFOR multinational staff the Grand Duke of Luxembourg and the guests were updated on the role of KFOR as the third person responsible for security in the Kosovo elections scheduled for the next 8 in June.

Grand Duke Henry of Luxembourg, for his part, confirmed full support for the KFOR mission and more generally the process of stabilization of Kosovo in the light of the aforementioned agreements.

At the end of the meeting, General Farina expressed to the Grand Duke of Luxembourg words of appreciation for the high professionalism shown by the military of every order and degree belonging to the Luxembourg contingent employed in the NATO KFOR mission.    

The visit of the Grand Duke Henry of Luxembourg to KFOR ended at Camp "Novo Selo" where he met and greeted the Luxembourg contingent.
