General Figliuolo in Skopje for the "High level talks"

The commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), division general Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, met some political and military authorities of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia yesterday. The visit is part of the planned activities of the commander of the NATO mission in Kosovo, as sanctioned by the Military Technical Agrimeent (MTA), also known as the Kumanovo Agreement.

Many topics are dealt with in high offices. General Figliuolo and the Chief of Defense Staff discussed the state of security in Kosovo. Furthermore, the KFOR commander highlighted the important contribution that the Macedonian military forces provide in the various international missions in which they are employed and above all the role played as a host nation to support the logistic movements of KFOR.

Subsequently, General Figliuolo, in agreement with the Minister of Defense, Zoran Jolevsky, underlined the importance of cooperation as an inspiring principle in order to increase, through dialogue, stability and the general state of security throughout the Balkan area.

The minister also congratulated General Figliuolo on what was done by the KFOR military for the implementation of the UN resolution 1244.

General Figliuolo then met the Minister of the Interior, Gordana Jankuloska, with whom he stressed the effective collaboration and support provided by the Macedonian authorities in the normalization of the management of control of common border areas between Kosovo and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, thanks also to the recent agreements concluded in this area.

The visit ended with an interview with the Italian ambassador in Skopje, Ernesto Massimino Bellelli.
