The general Son in command of the NATO force in Kosovo

Division General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, born in Potenza in July 11, was appointed commander of KFOR, the NATO force in Kosovo. With the official ceremony taking place tomorrow at the headquarters of the KFOR command in Pristina, the general will assume command of NATO forces in Kosovo succeeding his predecessor, General Farina.

The Kosovo Force (KFOR) which began its mission in the 1999 under mandate from the United Nations, is an international military force represented by 31 Nations of which 23 belonging to NATO. It is made up of approximately 5.500 men and women who have the task of restoring and maintaining order, peace and helping to support economic and social development in the tormented Balkan country in order to achieve a democratic, civil and multi-ethnic society.

General Figliuolo has already been engaged in multiple military operations on the international stage. Former commander of a tactical group in Kosovo, he was also commander of the Italian contingent in Afghanistan and at home, he commanded the Taurinense alpine brigade.

For his undisputed value, for the valuable military and human qualities shown, General Figliuolo was awarded the following merits and decorations: Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic; Silver Cross of Merit of the Army; Gold Cross of Merit of the Army.

He is married to Mrs. Enza and is the father of two sons, Salvatore and Federico.
