The commander of KFOR meets the Albanian authorities

The commander of the NATO multinational mission KFOR, General Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, was received in Tirana by the Chief of Defense of Albania, General Jeronim Bazo.

General during the meeting underlined the importance of the excellent collaboration between the armed forces of Albania and KFOR and expressed to the general BAZO words of appreciation for the high professionalism demonstrated by the military of every order and degree belonging to the Albanian contingent employed in the NATO KFOR mission.

This meeting is part of a broader agenda of appointments with the heads of staff of the defense of the nations of the Balkan area aimed at promoting dialogue and the exchange of information for the achievement of a common result.

In the spirit of the all-encompassing approach of the KFOR mission, the commander met with Albania's defense minister (photo), Mimi Khodeli, and Albania's interior minister with whom he addressed issues related to the general situation in Kosovo and in particular on security in the region: in this regard, General Figliuolo stressed the improvements achieved after the agreement between Pristina and Belgrade and confirmed KFOR's efforts to ensure an increasingly safe environment and freedom of movement.

In particular, General Figliuolo and Minister Khodeli discussed possible agreements to implement the already tested airspace procedures for operational needs and other possible transit activities.

The visit ended with an interview with the Italian Ambassador to Albania, HE Massimo Gaiani.
