The commander of KFOR meets the Italian ambassador in Kosovo

The commander of the Kosovo Force (KFOR), division general Francesco Paolo Figliuolo, received the ambassador of Italy in Pristina, SE Andreas Ferrarese, at the KFOR multinational headquarters on Friday.

General Figliuolo and the Ferrarese ambassador discussed the current situation in Kosovo and the fundamental role played by KFOR in ensuring a safe environment and the freedom of movement necessary for the development of the region.

The Ferrarese ambassador underlined the notable contribution made to NATO by the Italian armed forces, present in Kosovo by the 1999, for the stabilization of this delicate area of ​​the Balkans, which represents one of the regions of greatest geopolitical and strategic interest for our country.

"KFOR and all the men and women with the stars of the Italian contingent have always guaranteed security and favor the economic, social and political development of Kosovo and more generally of the Balkan area", said the Ambassador Ferarrese, adding that " our armed forces, with their work, contribute to creating the conditions of stability and security that encourage Italian investors to increase their presence in Kosovo with consequent undoubted benefits for this territory ".

In fact, Italy is one of the main supporters of the NATO mission in Kosovo, with approximately 550 military employees and holds for the second year in a row the leadership with General Figliuolo in command of over 5000 military belonging to 31 nations.
