The military employed in Kosovo inaugurate a new playground for the children of Dečani

Yesterday a new children's playground was inaugurated in Carrarog I - Eprem, inhabited on the outskirts of the city of Dečani / Deçan, thanks to the help of the soldiers employed in the mission in Kosovo called KFOR.

The Italian CIMIC has strongly supported in several ways the project that has allowed the redevelopment of a playground, equipped not only with recreational facilities for younger children, but also in areas where you can freely practice sports such as football or basketball, thus allowing young people to live a peaceful childhood, between leisure and team games that can increase the sense of community, union and respect for others.

Activities of this type are very important as they go to tangible support of a category - that of children and adolescents - among the most at risk in an area where there is still a strong memory of the violence of the end-of-year conflict. pushed the United Nations Security Council - through resolution n ° 90 - to send a multinational force to Kosovo in order to stop the inter-ethnic clashes: the KFOR contingent (Kosovo Force), of which Italy has always been important protagonist since the origin of the operation in the 1244.

The inauguration was also present at the inauguration. Ruggero Cucchini, commander of the Multinational Battle Group West - a multinational unit composed of Italians, Slovenes, Austrians and Moldovans, competing in the western region of Kosovo - and former commander of the 5 ° rgt. the Alpine region of Vipiteno, a department that currently constitutes the "backbone" of the Italian contingent in Kosovo.

The col. Cucchini wanted to underline the importance of this project dedicated to children and young Kosovar citizens, because they are entrusted with the important task of overcoming the diffidence connected to inter-ethnic coexistence to guarantee a better future for this country.
