The launchers remember the anniversary of Jagodnij's battle

The "Lancieri di Novara" regiment (5 °), currently involved in the UNIFIL mission as a unit for maneuvering the Italian contingent, on the Ariete brigade base, recalled yesterday with a sober ceremony the 72 anniversary of the office of Jagodnij, a location on the Russian front where in the August of the 1942, the lancers distinguished themselves for value and spirit of sacrifice in contrasting the enemy forces.

For the value expressed in that battle, at the banner, the most decorated of the cavalry weapon, a gold medal and a silver medal for military valor were conferred.

During the ceremony, after the deposition of a crown at the war memorial, the commander, Colonel Elio Babbo, recalled the founding values of the cavalry, expressing its appreciation to the staff of the unit for the commitment and professionalism so far demonstrated in the difficult Lebanese experience, urging to keep operating performance high.

The "Lancieri di Novara" regiment is for the fourth time in Lebanon, where it operates in compliance with the mandate of the 1701 resolution of the United Nations.
