Italian blue helmets train to mine recognition

Yesterday at the MILLEVOI base in Shama, the Joint Task Force Lebanon, a course on the techniques of recognition of unexploded ordnance and mines (UXO and Mines Awareness Course) held by the military of the Italian UNIFIL contingent, currently on a brigade Ariete, in favor of colleagues of the Lebanese armed forces (LAF).

The UNIFIL EOD specialists held theoretical and practical lessons to increase knowledge and apply procedures to secure the area affected by the discovery of a potential threat and allow specialists to carry out reclamation operations.

The UXO and Mines Awareness course is part of the training program prepared by the Italian contingent for the benefit of the Lebanese military, which also includes courses on crowd control techniques (Anti Riot and Crowd Control Techniques), on first aid techniques (Basic Life Support) as well as on the conduct of operational activities.

Supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces is one of the main tasks assigned to the UNIFIL contingent by UN Resolution 1701, together with monitoring the cessation of hostilities and assisting the local population, activities for which the Aries Brigade soldiers have long been prepared at home and carried out here with professionalism, transparency and impartiality.
