4 compatriots returned to Italy, thanks to the intervention of Italian Military Support Base (BMIS) in Djibouti and the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

On June 13, Italian citizens, all domiciled in the Republic of Djibouti and unable due to the pandemic in progress and the restrictions imposed by local authorities, managed to return to Italy. In fact, thanks to the inter-ministerial collaboration, civilian personnel are allowed, in exceptional cases, to use the air carriers of the Italian Air Force to transport soldiers, vehicles and materials to and from the Operating Theaters. A winning example of what is called the "Country System", where the various players in the field are able to maximize resources and efforts thanks to widespread synergies.

The BMIS command, concerned by the national authorities present on the Djiboutian territory and by the Italian embassy of Addis Ababa, has conveyed the requests for boarding the compatriots and provided them with support so that they could use the military aircraft.
