During the night between Saturday and Sunday, ten compatriots, coming from the mission in Djibouti, returned thanks to the collaboration between the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The compatriots were able to take advantage of the Air Force carrier, planned for the return of the soldiers stationed in Djibouti belonging to the Italian Military Support Base (BMIS) and to the Bilateral Training Mission of the Somali and Djiboutian Police Forces (MIADIT).
These are people who, following the pandemic due to COVID-19 and the consequent closure of the borders by the Republic of Djibouti, were unable to return to their homeland.
The BMIS Command, interested by the National Authorities present on the Djiboutian territory and by the Embassy of Addis Ababa, directed them towards the diplomatic procedures to be implemented in order to make the use of the military carrier possible and provided all the necessary support to guarantee their return to Italy.
