Djibouti: Change at the top of the Italian Military Support Base

It took place at the Italian Military Support Base (BMIS) in Djibouti the handover ceremony between the outgoing commander, Colonel Stefano Capriglione of the Italian Army, and the new commander, Colonel Francesco Sassara of the Air Force. The ceremony was attended by Brigadier General Sergio Cardea, Commander of theItalian Joint Force Headquarters, together with other military, civil and religious authorities.

In his speech, Colonel Capriglione thanked all those present, underlining how participation in the event testifies to the strong bond of respect and collaboration between the different operational entities on Djiboutian territory. He also highlighted his appreciation for the dedication and professionalism of the contingent personnel who, working in synergy, successfully faced the challenges, achieving the objectives set.

Colonel Sassara, assuming command of the deployment, reiterated his commitment to ensuring the continuity of the BMIS, underlining the strategic importance of the mission in a geopolitical context of primary relevance.

Finally, General Cardea expressed heartfelt thanks to Colonel Capriglione for the results achieved during his mandate in the last 14 months at the Command of men and women who have demonstrated competence and motivation. He wished Colonel Sassara good work in his new role, confident that he will be able to successfully continue the work of his predecessor.
