19/03/14

In recent days, the Italian soldiers of the European Union Training Mission - Mali (EUTM Mali) carried out training at Koulikoro, the training of a Malian battalion.

The battalion, composed of 698 military officers including 32 officers, 134 non-commissioned officers and 532 soldiers, is divided into three infantry companies and a "specialized" company made up of different special forces, air control, genius, explosive devices, artillery experts and logistic support.

Thanks to the training received, the Malian military personnel will be employed by the authorities of the country in the control of the territory, joining the other units already previously trained by the European military instructors.

The education activity of the twelve Italian soldiers will soon be held with the start of the refresher course and the training of the first battalion trained in the EUTM MALI field.

The EUTM - Mali contributes to training the local armed forces and security and to provide health care for the Malian armed forces operating under the control of the legitimate local civil authorities, in order to contribute to the restoration of the military capabilities necessary for the re-acquisition of the territorial integrity of the country.
