The activity, directed by the Unifil command of Naqoura, made it possible to test the command and control structures present in the mission (Unifil Operations Room, Sector West Operations Room, Sector West Tactical Command Post), the Force Commander Reserve, on regimental base of the French army, and some Italian maneuvering units based on the "Cavalleggeri Guide" regiment (19th), including the reserve of the West Sector (SMR - Sector Mobile Reserve).
The exercise was developed through the simulation of an incident based on the protest of a group of local demonstrators, in this way the units have carried out an intervention test managed by the operating rooms of the commands of Naqoura (JOC-Joint Operation Center), of Shama (TOC-Tactical Operation Center) and the tactical command post of the JTF-SW deployed on the site chosen for the exercise.
The units involved were able to carry out crowd containment and control procedures (Crowd and Riot Control), which allowed the soldiers to test their readiness and ability to react and to refine the coordination of command and control structures. also representatives of the Lebanese armed forces (LAF), according to the principle of support sanctioned by the 1701 Resolution of the United Nations Security Council.
Brigadier General Stefano Del Col, commander of Sector West of Unifil and of the Italian Contingent, in positively commenting on the results of the exercise, expressed his satisfaction with the training verification and confirmation of a concrete multinational harmony capable of expressing a model effective operation.
The UN 1701 Resolution, in addition to support for LAFs, also includes monitoring the cessation of hostilities and assistance to the local population.
