After having travelled 2.505 nautical miles with 167,2 hours of motion, Nave Marceglia reached the port of Benoa, on the island of Bali - Indonesia.
From 14 to 22 February, the unit and its crew will take part in the events related to the Multilateral Naval Exercise KOMODO (MNEK) 2025, an event of international scope, involving the navies of 38 nations and which will take place in parallel between the sea and the mainland.
The KOMODO, organized by the Indonesian Navy every two years and now in its fifth edition, has as its motto “Maritime Partnership for Peace and Stability" and aims to consolidate interoperability between the crews of the navies of the participating countries in the management of humanitarian emergencies and natural disasters.
The exercise, which will involve the participation of over 25 naval vessels - which will operate in the Badung Strait (Northern Bali) - involves the creation, coordination and use of a multinational fleet in a scenario of "disaster relief".
The need to operate in this direction and to cooperate in the creation of a cohesive international naval force comes as a result of the calamitous events that occurred in 2004, when the area was hit by earthquakes and tsunamis and the world community came together to rush to the aid of the affected populations.
The exchange of professional skills, which will involve the Marceglia ship, will take place through dedicated forums for sharing experiences and insights between staff, bilateral meetings with the navies of various countries, the International Maritime Security Symposium (IMSS) and exhibitions on defense and cultural activities. In addition, there will be moments of meetings and collaborations with the local community also through initiatives aimed at environmental sustainability.
These activities, which will involve the crews of all the participating navies, include the release of baby turtles into the sea, the planting of corals and mangroves and the cleaning of the island's beaches.
