In the last few days, some operators of the multinational CIMIC group/7th CIMIC regiment of the Italian Army have conducted a bilateral activity called CIMIC Orientation Training, at the Kazakhstan Peace Operations Centre (KAZCENT) in Almaty.
The initiative is part of the Bilateral Cooperation Plan KAZ07, signed between Italy and Kazakhstan in 2023, with the aim of consolidating cooperation in the sector of Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC).
Il CIMIC Orientation Training, defined during the bilateral staff talks in October 2024, has strengthened the strategic relations between Italy and Kazakhstan, a partner of growing importance also from a commercial and diplomatic perspective.
The training activity, organized according to the “train the trainers” model, saw the alternation of theoretical lessons focused on the main CIMIC operational functions and practical sessions, dedicated to the simulation of operational meetings and situations of real civil-military interaction. The dialogues and moments of debate were particularly appreciated, which favored a significant exchange of experiences and skills in the field of Civil Military Interaction (CMI) and CIMIC. The Kazakhstan peace operations centre (KAZCENT), a recently built facility managed under the supervision of defense general staff Kazakh, offered an optimal context for the activity, which developed in a climate of mutual respect and friendship among the participants.
The KAZCENT commander expressed great satisfaction with the results achieved, noting that the training fully met the objectives set by the Bilateral Cooperation Plan KAZ07. The officer also highlighted the intention to further develop the CIMIC capabilities of the Kazakh Armed Forces at the tactical level, laying the foundation for a solid and long-lasting partnership in the field of civil-military cooperation.
This activity confirms the commitment of the multinational CIMIC group to strengthen bilateral relations and promote the development of shared operational capabilities, thus consolidating Italy's strategic role in an area of growing international relevance. The MNCG group/7th CIMIC regiment, a multinational and joint unit led by Italy, plays a fundamental role in ensuring cooperation between the armed forces and local authorities in conflict scenarios, where dialogue between civilian and military components is essential.
