On 28 March 2021, in Djibouti, the launch ceremony of the first phase of the project for the strengthening of the International School for the practice of Judicial Police was held, through the resources made available by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (DG for Globalization and Global Issues) and by the Carabinieri.

The School, inaugurated by the Gibutian National Gendarmerie in 2019, aims to become a center of excellence for education and training, in the specific sector of investigations, for the personnel of the local Police Forces and those of the Francophone countries of East Africa. .

During the event, the deputy head of the II Department of the general command of the Carabinieri, gen. b. Andrea Paris, accompanied by col. Andrea Torzani, delivered the equipment for setting up forensic educational laboratories and the development of the related training activities, implemented by Grouping Carabinieri Scientific Investigations (RaCIS) in the wake of the collaborations, in progress since 2015, between the Arma dei Carabinieri and the National Gendarmerie of Djibouti.

The second phase of the project will start next year and will be aimed at completing the supply of equipment and training, together with the training activity on automated fingerprint identification systems (AFIS).

The carabinieri, for several years, through the Italian Training Mission (MIADIT) Somalia in Djibouti, are part of the Defense capacity building initiatives in favor of the Somali and Djiboutian Police Forces, contributing to the creation of the conditions for the stabilization of Somalia, by increasing the operational capabilities of the Police Forces.

To date, in the area, the Arma has completed the training of 2522 units, belonging to the Somali Police, the National Police and the Gibutian Gendarmerie, in addition to the restructuring of the Mogadishu Police Academy. In addition, in 2018, it supported the establishment of the Unité de Protection de l'Environnement, a unit of the National Gendarmerie specialized in Environmental Police.
