Running children with the "Pinerolo"

Lebanon: the Italian blue helmets in collaboration with the Uisp (Italian Sport Union for All), and the Italian Cooperation, UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Employment Agency for Palestine Refugees) have allowed 1.500 Lebanese children , Palestinians and Syrians to participate in a foot race called "Vivicittà" in the oldest city in southern Lebanon.

The children, divided by age groups and coming from all the districts of the Lebanese city and from the Palestinian and Syrian refugee camps, all together gave life to a beautiful day of sport.

About 100 Italian military UNIFIL have ensured the organization and security of the event by donating, at the end, to all participants medals and gadgets with Lebanese and Italian flags.

The mayor of Tiro and the representatives of the associations also contributed, together with the military, to the success of "Vivicittà".

Brigadier General Stefano Del Col, commander of the UNIFIL Joint Task Force Lebanon Sector West and of the Italian contingent, highlighted the importance of synergy between the contingent and charitable organizations in organizing such events with their massive participation makes it possible to "build those roads of peace that these very young people will choose to travel in their future".
